The United Kingdom is ready to advance with employing the total value of immobilized Russia's funds to support Ukraine's war effort, PM Sir Keir Starmer has stated.

In a joint statement, the heads of state of the Britain, the French Republic, and Germany emphasized that this coordinated action would heighten pressure on Russia's leader Vladimir Putin and persuade the Russian Federation to participate in talks.

They clarified that the decision would be carried out in tight collaboration with the US.

British penalties have immobilized over £25bn of Russia's assets since the Russian government began its widespread offensive against the Ukrainian nation in 2022. However, up to this point, resources allocated to the Ukrainian government using Russian holdings had solely been taken from gains and dividends earned on them.

Sir Keir informed Ukraine's leader Volodymyr Zelensky that the Britain, France, and Germany were in agreement in their goal to advance efforts toward utilizing the total worth of the immobilized Russian sovereign assets to halt hostilities.

He added that further sanctions soon would increase the strain on Moscow.

This statement comes after European officials convened in Copenhagen previously to consider using immobilized Russian funds for a €140bn credit to Ukraine.

Last month, American leader Donald Trump encouraged Group of Seven partners to take or utilize seized Russia's holdings, based on news outlets.

The total of immobilized Russian holdings in the European Union is estimated to be nearly €211bn.

Russia carried out widespread bombardments all over the Ukrainian territory on Friday, resulting in power cuts in many areas of Ukraine's capital, the city, and multiple additional areas.

Two people were killed and a minimum of 20 people were wounded in the strike, Ukrainian officials reported.

In a update on social media subsequent to the strike, Zelensky stated that the cynical and calculated attack targeted civilian and energy infrastructure.

"The necessity is not just talk but firm measures - from the United States, EU, and the Group of Seven - in providing anti-aircraft weapons and implementing sanctions," he stated.

"All penalty impositions undermines the Russian war effort," Zelensky wrote, in a additional update.

In the same period, Zelensky stated to reporters he would encourage Sir Keir to join the PURL scheme, under which Nato countries acquire military equipment from the US to provide to the Ukrainian forces.

While praising the Britain's consistent assistance for Ukraine, he remarked it should send a clear signal that it would participate in the system, as well as apply more sanctions on Moscow.
